Really loved this piece - the Q&A section is something I would definitely share with students looking to go down that path! As someone who spent most of grad school trying to define some kind of interdisciplinary identity (I was in a neuroscience program, at a neuroethics research unit which switched to a broader pragmatic health ethics research unit partway through my degree), bioethics was often one of several areas of research I fell back on to explain the foundation of my work. Sometimes I say that my PhD is in neuroscience and ethics, sometimes neuroethics, and sometimes interdisciplinary bioethics.

Thanks John! The challenge in being interdisciplinarians is that we can have multiple identities, and so it takes time to accept this and mobilize them when and where they're most appropriate... and recognize that they will continue evolving.
